Description The "Computer and Internet Services Survey 2003" surveys the 10 major franchise players in the computer / Internet industry.
Industry Overview The computer service market is a $300 billion industry. Today, nearly 50% of households (80% of upper income households) and over 75% of businesses in the US own at least one computer. However, both computer amateurs and people who have worked on computers for years find a steep learning curve with new or revised software.
The Internet has become an indispensable revenue stream – one in every five dollars in revenue is generated from the Internet. And once people get on the Internet, apparently, they have a very difficult time stopping! 45% use it from one to four times a day, and 40% use it even more often. By 2003, the number of Internet users will rise by 33% worldwide and 23% in the U.S. Currently, 25% of businesses have web pages.
Analysts predict that the computer training industry will rise to more than $39 billion by 2006 (from $23 billion in 2001). Industry analysts report that only a small percentage of the world’s computer training market has been tapped. Most of the industry is fragmented among small businesses and in-house training departments.
