Free Franchise Bankruptcy White Paper.

In May of 1998, FranchiseHelp published a Franchise Bankruptcy Study, Effects of a Franchisor Bankruptcy on the Franchisee (an anecdotal study). We are now re-issuing this study as a White Paper for interested parties. We believe the findings of this study are just as relevant in May of 2007

In addition, we have updated the status of the three studied restaurant franchise systems which had previously filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Two of these companies survive today with a certain amount of success; one company did not survive. The companies studied are Sizzler, Denny's and The Italian Oven.

The Study carefully examines the effects on a franchised business when a franchisor undergoes extreme financial difficulties. The report cites interviews with franchisees of these troubled systems and, most importantly, gives recommendations on actions to be taken by Franchisors, Franchisees, and Investor/Lenders during serious financial situations.
