The origins of Sheraton® date back to 1937 when the company's founders, Ernest
Henderson and Robert Moore, acquired their first hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts.
At the end of its first decade, Sheraton had proven so popular and had become
such a relied-upon brand that it was the first hotel chain to be listed on the
New York Stock Exchange. In 1998, Starwood® Hotels & Resorts Worldwide,
Inc. acquired Sheraton.
