I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (author also of The Kite Runner); A wretching, haunting book of vivid characters in Muslim – dominated Afghanistan. Also, old  chesnuts which make great beach books are Shogun and Tai-Pan by James Clavell.

A family member is reading and loving Einstein, His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson; not necessarily for relativity fans but a more personal  look at how his scientific imagination sprang from his rebellious nature,

Other Summer Reading Suggestions

Time to pick up the classics again like East of Eden, To Kill a Mockingbird, or Anna Karenina. If you like contempory authors, I really enjoy Jodi Picoult’s books, a must read – My Sisters Keeper.
