CAPS Off to Garol Orr at 101 Mobility North Georgia for Her Aging in Place Certification
101 Mobility North Georgia co-owner Garol Orr is ready to help seniors age in place as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist
Atlanta, GA, July 15, 2014 – 101 Mobility North Georgia celebrates a new distinction for co-owner Garol Orr as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS). The CAPS designation further identifies Garol as an expert in the field of aging in place, specifically in regards to modifying and remodeling homes to fit the needs of the aging and disabled. Aging in place is the process of living a comfortable and healthy life in the home while aging, rather than living with relatives or in an assisted care facility. For families across America, aging in place has become the number one choice for growing older, and Garol is excited to continue to serve the North Georgia community in this process.
To earn her certification, Garol and her 35 classmates completed a rigorous three-day CAPS course with the Greater Atlanta Home Builder’s Association. Each of the six-hour sessions focused on a different aspect of aging in place, including marketing and communication, designing and building strategies, and business management. After each course, participants had to pass an examination testing their knowledge. Garol’s completion of the CAPS course demonstrates both her advanced understanding of the aging in place process, and her dedication to providing her customers with quality mobility solutions.
The CAPS course was created by the National Association of Home Builders in conjunction with AARP as a way to distinguish professionals who are particularly capable of serving the aging community. It brings together professionals in every aspect of the field, including occupational therapists, assistive technology professionals, general contractors, mobility equipment manufacturers, and more. These professionals find ample networking possibilities during the CAPS coursework, and Garol took advantage of her newfound connections to build a relationship with third-party workman’s compensation administrator, One Call Care Management.
Garol joins an esteemed group of colleagues across the country who are proud to bring their training and education to their communities. 101 Mobility North Georgia is a local resource for mobility equipment, providing professional installations and service to bring safety and accessibility to homes and businesses. Garol looks forward to using her CAPS designation to bring 101 Mobility North Georgia’s services to those aging in place in her community.
