Apple American On The Move
Apple American Group LLC, the largest franchisee for the popular restaurant franchise Applebee's, agreed this week to acquire 66 corporate locations in New England from DineEquity Inc., the Applebee's parent company. This is the third time the two parties have struck a refranchising deal since the Applebee's International franchise was acquired by DineEquity in 2007. Apple American currently operates about 270 Applebee’s locations in 11 states.
Although terms were not disclosed, Apple American agreed to remodel all of its New England restaurants by the end of 2012. Applebee's is currently remodeling all its restaurants in a bid to change the look and feel of its popular American casual dining restaurant chain.

New President at Papa Murphy’s
The Papa Murphy's franchise has hired Ken Calwell as President. Calwell was most recently chief marketing officer of Wendy's and previously worked for Domino's Pizza as VP of research. Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake pizza has more that 1,250 units in North America and was acquired by Lee Equity Partners last year.

Honest-1 Auto Care Discounts to Veterans
The Honest-1 Auto Care franchise, the eco-friendly full-service auto repair and maintenance franchise, announced this week that it is offering a discount of more than 15 percent on franchises for qualified military veterans. The discount will be applicable to the $30,000 initial franchise fee, which will save franchisees $5,000. This opportunity was made possible by Honest-1 Auto Care’s partnership with VetFran, an organization that helps military veterans own small businesses.
East Side for Mazzio’s Pizza
Mazzio’s Pizza, the casual Italian cuisine franchise found predominantly in the Midwest, has signed a new franchise development agreement that will bring the franchise to the east coast. The deal will give exclusive rights for RAMK, a multi-unit development company, to build 30 Mazzio's Pizza units in Virginia.
Mazzio's ranks among the top U.S. pizza brands by unit count and system-wide sales. It currently has more than 170 locations.

Baskin-Robbins Offerings in L.A.
Baskin Robbins is offering a seminar on becoming a Baskin Robbins franchisee in Los Angeles. The company actually has many opportunities for qualified candidates to purchase existing restaurants in the City of Angels and is holding the seminar on June 8th at the Los Angeles Hilton.
The ice cream giant operates more than 6,000 stores worldwide and enjoys 98 percent brand awareness across the country.
