Over 30,000 New Franchise Jobs in December
The ADP National Franchise Report was bullish last month, showing that franchise jobs in December increased by 30,250, marking the largest gain in nine months. ADP further reported that the franchise industry added 229,000 new jobs in the totality of 2013, representing 11% of all jobs added last year. Even more impressively, the report found that franchise job growth was up 2.9% above 2012 numbers, a full percentage point ahead of overall private sector job numbers. Restaurants were far and away the biggest industry responsible for the positive numbers, accounting for three fourths of all added jobs, while gas stations and accommodation businesses tied for a distant second place. The ADP report comes from anonymous payroll data from ADP client companies, comprising 15,000 franchisors.
