Churro Station Franchise Opportunities – History

Churro Station was founded in 2003 by Melanie Farkas, who came up with the idea of opening a ‘churreria’ after a trip to Mexico in 2002. She teamed with partner Zoila Aldana, who grew up in her mother’s restaurant business in Guatemala, to pursue a retail churro business in the United States. But first, Farkas, after becoming enchanted with churros, sought out the best churros in different cities all over Mexico and Spain, and after years of research and many churro-tasting trips, Farkas searched the world for the perfect churro- making machine. She and Aldana then reworked the best churro recipe they could find to produce authentic churros for Americans. The friends opened their first store in San Rafael, California.

Churro Station Business Opportunities: Other Information

It was on a trip to Mexico in the early 1980s when Melanie Farkas, founder and CEO of Churro Station, first fell in love with the doughy, sweet dessert pastry that is distinctly Latin American. It was while watching an elderly man as he made fresh, hot churros all evening long in the middle of the plaza that Farkas began on her road to creating a nationwide churro chain.
