E.P.I.C. Systems
Epic Systems Corporation is a privately held health care software company founded in 1979 by Judy Faulkner. Epic's target market is large health care organizations which are making substantial investments in technology. Epic offers an integrated suite of health care software centered on a hierarchical MUMPS/Cache database. Their applications support all the functions related to patient care, including registration and scheduling systems for clerks; clinical systems for doctors, nurses, emergency personnel, and other care providers; ancillary systems for lab technicians, pharmacists, and radiologists; and billing systems for care providers as well as insurers. All applications leverage the same central database.
