Overview

The main difference between Orkin Pest Control and other similar companies is the science and research that Orkin uses. Unlike other companies that rely on the same products and services for all types of infestations, this company researches pet biology to find out which products and techniques work best for different types of infestations. Technicians working for local companies often drive trucks equipped with the latest tools and the products. Technicians perform an initial inspection to determine the type of infestation and how to treat it before giving homeowners a job estimate.

History of the Orkin Pest Control Franchise

Otto Orkin was a teenager living in Pennsylvania in 1901 when he started his career as an exterminator. Though he originally started his career as a middleman and seller of poisons, he later found that his customers would pay him more to actually get rid of the rodents for them. He eventually founded a company called Orkin the Rat Man that would later become Orkin. Following the success of the company after the end of World War II, it began offering franchises. Orkin is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rollins, Inc., with its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia and has more than 400 locations serving 1.7 million customers.
