Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Announces Three-Store Development Agreement in Northern California

Owner/Operator Amrik Singh will open new locations in Ceres, Oakdale and Atwater

(Ceres, CA) Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has just executed a new three-store development agreement in Northern California. The new stores will be located in Ceres, Oakdale and Atwater. The Ceres store will open by the end of 2016, followed by the stores in Oakdale and Atwater.

Owner/Operator Amrik Singh has a long history in quick service restaurants. As a teenager he started working in the industry, eventually progressing into management. Singh also had a brief stint of franchise ownership in a small California pizza concept. Originally from India, Singh and his family made their home in California when he was a young child, and he looks forward to providing for his family in America for years to come. “Dickey’s has been incredibly supportive throughout this whole process, and I am blown away by the corporate office and their attention to detail,” says Singh. “We have purchased holiday meals from Dickey’s for years, and I am glad to now own my own stores and serve authentic, delicious food to my community.”

Franchise Marketing Fund Disclosure: A Cold Stone Creamery Case Study

In the Cold Stone case, the franchisees are also seeking information relating the pricing of the supplies on which the franchisor is receiving the vendor rebates. If it turns out that the prices that vendors charge franchisees are artificially inflated in order to allow for payment of these “kickbacks” to the franchisor, then the franchisees no doubt will assert additional claims in their lawsuit against Kahala. Such claims may include fraud for inadequate or misleading disclosures in the Cold Stone FDD (if in fact information was withheld – at this point, we don’t know who is right or wrong).

Interview with Isaiah Brown, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM franchisee

I had been working for 1-800-FLOWERS.COM for 16 years prior to becoming a franchisee. I started out literally getting my hands dirty – and pricked, and cut – as a flower cutter in a retail location in Brooklyn. It’s the store I own now, although we’re in a new location. I worked my way up to being a district manager in New York.
