Old Navy Clothing Franchise History
Old Navy opened in 1993 as an outlet for Gap, offering Gap clothing for prices below what the traditional stores charged. Just one year after opening, the store adopted its new name. As sales at that California store increased, Gap decided to open more stores under the same name throughout California and Pennsylvania. In 2014, Gap, Inc. announced plans to offer Old Navy franchise opportunities. Although at a high entry cost, the first franchise opened that same year and there are now plans to open a number of franchises to replace some of the stores the chain closed during the recession.
