Oreck Corporation's history is akin to the American dream. David Oreck, at age 40, founded Oreck Corporation in 1963 at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with one product: an 8 lb. upright vacuum cleaner. Oreck began manufacturing vacuums in the United States in 1979 and continues to do so today in Cookeville, Tennessee. The first Oreck Clean Home Center opened in 1979, so they have some Franchise Owners starting to think about retirement.
