This major investment was necessitated by the fact that there were no commercial POS systems available that allow the stores sales personnel to buy directly from its customers.   • Since pre-owned merchandise cannot be ordered on demand, the PrePlayed software utilizes a customer reservation system allowing customers to place a reservation on any product not currently in stock. When a reserved item is purchased into the inventory, the software alerts the salesmen and instructs them to contact the appropriate customer.
  • By placing look-up stations throughout the store, customers can search the stores inventory database to determine whether or not an item is presently in stock without having to wait for store personnel to help them.
  • Listening and viewing stations allow the consumer to preview the various products prior to purchase thus increasing the buyer's satisfaction level with their purchases.
  • Much of the easily stolen inventory is displayed empty. Only the empty packaging is on display, the actual merchandise is safely stored behind the counter and joined at the time of sale.
