The Roark Capital Group has bought the Arby's franchise from the Wendy's Group (formerly known as the Wendy's/Arby's Group) for $430 million. The owners of the Wendy's franchise will retain 18.5 percent stake in Arby's. However, the Wendy's group was not giving up on Arby's. Greener Chipotle, Better Burrito
These days, being green is all the rage, and this environmentally-friendly concept hasn't escaped the Chipotle franchise, one of the more popular restaurant franchises in the industry. Chipotle has announced it will double the amount of locally grown produce it uses this year. The effort is part of its "Food With Integrity" program. "Local" food is is defined as food from within 350 miles of the store where it is being served. “Not only is local produce fresher and better tasting, but it also helps support the environment and regional farming communities around the country,” said Chipotle founder Steve Ells.
The fast-food joint has also added chorizo to its somewhat limited (but successful) menu at select locations in New York and Denver for the summer. The chorizo is made with free-range pork.

ActionCOACH, of which FranchiseHelp.com guest blogger Brad Sugars is President and Founder, is running the Free Franchise for the Forces program, which will provide business opportuninties to 100 veterans. In total, the program is estimated to give away $7.6 million in free franchise fees.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the unemployment rate for new veterans is 12.5 percent, a number that is significantly greater than the national unemployment rate of just over 9 percent. "The alarming unemployment numbers in a segment of the population that has one of the best skills sets you can find prompted us to launch this initiative," said ActionCOACH CEO for U.S.A. & Canada, Jodie Shaw. Veterans are also known to make for very good franchisees.
The program will be responsible for the largest franchise giveaway in U.S. history. From May 1, 2011 to October 31, 2011, ActionCOACH will recruit 100 eligible veterans in select states. These lucky veterans will have their entire franchise, training and tech fees waived.
